In 2022, the International Criminal Court (ICC) convicts Vladimir Putin of war crimes; in 2023, the ICC investigates crimes in the Israeli-Palestinian war. WAR & JUSTICE recapitulates the 25-year history of the ICC and its fight against crimes against humanity, genocide, war crimes and wars of aggression. It is about Benjamin Ferencz, once the youngest chief prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials, about Luis Moreno-Ocampo and Karim Khan, the ICC prosecutors; it is about the wars in Congo, Libya, Ukraine and Gaza. And it is about the question of whether and how war crimes can be prevented at all. Or whether the greatest crime is not the war itself.
As a preview before the official theatrical release, director Marcus Vetter will present his film in person as part of a cinema tour. Followed by a film talk.
