Filme im Dialog #3 - Assoziatives, lyrisches Kino

" Filme im Dialog " is a new film series launching at GEH8 in Dresden that focuses on cinema as a space for dialogue. On each event evening, two films will be screened back-to-back that are linked in terms of content, aesthetics, or theme. There is an intermission between screenings, providing an opportunity for exchange, socializing, and initial conversations. To ensure these exchanges don’t take place on an empty stomach, the team at the GEH8 Ateliercafé OTTO will be serving food and drinks.

What makes “Films in Dialogue” special is its open-ended format: The titles of the films are not revealed in advance but are only hinted at through associative descriptions. This piques visitors’ curiosity (similar to sneak previews at the movies) and allows for an open-minded approach to the films—free from preconceptions, but with a focus on the resonances that arise between the two works. The thoughtfully designed space and the dishes prepared for each evening enrich the exchange among attendees

Each evening is curated and moderated by Heinz Schmöller and Christoph Ziener. They place the films within a broader context, outline an overarching theme, and provide food for thought for the subsequent discussion. In this way, the evenings become not merely film screenings, but curated, sensorially immersive spaces for dialogue, where films engage in conversation with one another—and the audience is invited to continue this conversation.

About the films on Friday, September 25, 2026:
Film 1 
A young man tries to recall a song his mother used to sing to him as a child. In doing so, he loses himself in a labyrinth of memories and hallucinations, where scenes from his childhood and present-day desires merge into one another. In a stately mansion, he encounters a woman who, like him, is trapped in a space of memories and projections from her own subconscious.
Film 2
An iconic, color-saturated film poem that depicts, in allegorical
tableaux of the stages of a life, from childhood and youth to
old age and death. A wild, cinematic poem about the power of
poetry, featuring images of early Christian and Eastern mysticism and a
bygone, archaic present.
