To the complete program of Filmfest Aachen 2025!

From September 5 to 7, 2025, we will celebrate the first edition of Filmfest Aachen and transform the city into a stage for curated cinema, lively discussions and encounters for three days. During this time, our festival center, the Apollo Kino, will not only become a screen for special films from all over the world, but also a meeting place for film lovers. In our festival lounge, you can linger between screenings, get into conversation, make new contacts or simply enjoy the special festival atmosphere - an open meeting place for audiences, filmmakers and everyone who loves cinema.

We start on the evening of September 4 with our opening film Lesbian Space Princess and then open the screen for a varied program: the international competition (endowed with € 1,000), the thematic sections Fragments of Resistance and Offside: Dystopia, as well as the two short film programs Electric Shorts and Home, interrupted. With the Öcher Competition (endowed with €500), we give the regional film scene a stage, while our Midnight Screenings expand the festival program with trash horror cinema.

The film program is extended by thematic readings, a loop installation with music videos, film talks with directors, among other things, which inspire, are fun, stimulate and promote the exchange between art forms.

Tickets are available for €7.50 in our Rausgegangen ticket store or at the Box Office. In the ticket store you can also get our festival pass for €35, which allows you to see the entire program.

Our festival hub, the Apollo Kino & Bar, will during this time not only become the screen for exceptional films from around the world, but also a gathering place for film lovers. In our Festival Lounge, you can relax between screenings, strike up conversations, make new connections, or simply enjoy the unique festival atmosphere - an open meeting point for audiences, filmmakers, and everyone who loves cinema.

We kick off on the evening of September 4 with our opening film Lesbian Space Princess, before launching into a diverse program: the International Competition (prize: €1,000), the thematic sections Fragments of Resistance and Abseits: Dystopia, as well as the two short film programs Electric Shorts and Home, Interrupted. With the Öcher Competition (prize: €500), we give the regional film scene a platform, while our Midnight Screenings bring an extra dose of cult trash-horror to the festival nights.

The film program is further enriched by themed readings, a loop installation featuring music videos, and film talks with directors - events designed to inspire, entertain, spark curiosity, and encourage exchange between art forms.
