Director Thomas Vinterberg's first television series is an epic family saga in times of climate catastrophe. Denmark in the not-too-distant future: the country has to be evacuated due to rising sea levels. People are scattering in all directions. Those who can afford it flee to wealthy countries, while the less well-off are forced to rely on state-funded relocation to poorer countries. Laura has just graduated from school and is in love for the first time. When she receives the news of her forced departure, she is faced with the dilemma of having to choose between the three people she loves the most.

THOMAS VINTERBERG (*1969 in Denmark) is a co-founder of "Dogma 95" and made the movement's first film with the drama Das Fest (1998). He won the 2021 Oscar for Best Foreign Film for The Intoxication (FFHH 2020). In addition to his extensive film work as a director and screenwriter, he also directs theater and has made music videos for bands such as Blur and Metallica.

FILMFEST HAMBURG takes place from September 26 to October 5, 2024. Over 120 productions from all over the world will be shown as world, European, German or Hamburg premieres.
