Come to FILMFEST HAMBURG and travel back to the 2020 US election campaign

DOCUMENTARY FILM A journey into the heart of American darkness - with a tense inside view of political radicalization. It is the year 2020, and the USA is still in the midst of a heated election campaign. The film follows three conservatives who have dedicated themselves to supporting Donald Trump: An expectant father in New Jersey, a Proud Boys activist from Texas seeking proximity to the Black Lives Matter movement, and an Air Force veteran in New York. Layer by layer, the fears and convictions, the hopes and conspiracy theories that drive the protagonists are laid bare. And ultimately lead them to attack the country's democratic order by storming the Capitol.

MICHAEL PREMO (born in the USA) is a filmmaker and activist who was involved in the Occupy Wall Street movement. His short film Water Warriors (2017) shows the struggle of a group of Native Americans against a gas company. Homegrown celebrated its world premiere at the Settimana Internazionale della Critica in Venice.

FILMFEST HAMBURG will take place from September 26 to October 5, 2024. Over 120 productions from all over the world will be shown as world, European, German or Hamburg premieres.
