Tehran, July 7, 2007: Reyhaneh Jabbari, 19, has a business meeting with a new customer. A perfectly normal day, but one that will change her life forever. When the man tries to rape her, she stabs him in self-defense and flees. On the same day, she is arrested and soon afterwards charged with murder. Despite plenty of evidence pointing to self-defense, Reyhaneh has no chance in court, as her rapist was a powerful and excellently connected man who - even after his death - is protected by patriarchal society. Reyhaneh is sentenced to death. Her personal fight for justice begins.
