Cinema or museum? Both! Once a month, the Upper Silesian Museum invites you to this special combination of film screening and subsequent discussion. Carefully selected films are shown to encourage an exchange of ideas. Each screening starts at 12 noon - an offer that, by popular demand, now also takes place in the mornings.

While heated debates about integration and refugee policy dominate everyday life in Germany, hundreds of thousands of Germans have been emigrating abroad for years. One of the most popular emigration destinations is Spain and, for certain people, the Canarian village of Valle Gran Rey in the south-western part of Gomera. The Canarian village has long since ceased to be an insider tip; the '68ers arrived in the 70s, a colorful variety of dropouts, rebels and hippies. To this day, they are followed by artists, nature lovers and visionaries who are often looking for a break from their stressful and overstimulating homes. What is the secret of this place? Why did they leave their homeland or did their homeland leave them?

Director Ronald Urbanczyk searches for answers in the mirror image of his own migration story of a homeless late repatriate.
