Film premiere and discussion with director Katja Baumgarten
The film premiere will be followed by a discussion with director Katja Baumgarten and Sarah Kaufmann (representative of Mother Hood e.V. and doctor at Herdecke Community Hospital), moderated by Betty Schiel (IFFF Dortmund+Cologne)
A nightmare has become reality: A girl is born lifeless.
Her obstetrician begins to resuscitate her. Later, an emergency doctor takes over.
The little girl dies. Her parents call her Greta.
Four years later, her obstetrician is on trial - she is a doctor,
but also a midwife.
Greta had been lying upside down in her mother's womb. Why had Greta died? Was it her obstetrician's mistake? Had she deliberately caused Greta's death? The verdict: "Guilty of manslaughter".
Six years and nine months in prison, disbarment, compensation payments. Questions remain unanswered.
An unprecedented verdict after the tragic outcome of a birth.
After her release from prison, nothing is the same for the former doctor and midwife, now in her late 60s. She no longer feels part of the German legal system.
