Filmpremiere & Talk: „Wer weiß schon, was ein Leben ist?“
In the organizer's words:
What's it about?
Marking the 150th birthday of painter Paula Modersohn-Becker
Today, Paula Modersohn-Becker is considered one of the most important artists of the modern era—yet during her lifetime, she sold hardly any of her paintings. To mark the 150th anniversary of her birth, a young actress (played by Katharina Stark) sets out to trace the life of this extraordinary woman. Traveling between Worpswede and Paris, she explores Paula Modersohn-Becker’s life, work, and philosophy. The deeper she delves into Modersohn-Becker’s world, the more her search becomes an encounter with herself. The result is a poetic film about artistic freedom, female self-determination, and the timeless question: Who really knows what life is?
After the screening
Following the film, we look forward to a discussion with director Annelie Boroș, the cast members Katharina Stark, Enno Trebs, and Merlin Rose, as well as museum director Dr. Frank Schmidt. Together, we’ll take a look behind the scenes and discuss the extraordinary life of the painter Paula Modersohn-Becker, whose work continues to have an impact far beyond her short lifetime.
