"Tocsin", which translates as alarm bell, is the title of the final movement of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 11, which is understood as an expression of rebellion and a sign of political hope. Our film version of this 4th movement of the symphony, which was once described as "film music without film", celebrates its premiere in Frankfurt on January 10 🫶 ✨

Young German Philharmonic Orchestra
Our orchestra brings together the best students from German-speaking music academies to form an ensemble with the highest artistic standards. We have been delighting audiences and critics with our joy of playing and unmistakable energy for over 50 years. For each concert project, the ensemble reassembles and dedicates itself to the programs with care and passion, as if the work had just been written. In addition to a progressive approach to works from the classical and romantic repertoire, the music of the 20th and 21st centuries is a fundamental part of our self-image. A progressive further development of traditional concert formats, the contextualization of programmes and the communication of an unconditional enthusiasm for music are the basis of our actions. The grassroots democratic structure has been a hallmark of our collaboration since our foundation. Renowned ensembles that have emerged from our circles have used this way of working as a model - including Ensemble Modern, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Freiburger Barockorchester and Ensemble Resonanz. On regular international tours, we perform together with top-class conductors and established soloists in renowned European concert halls. As part of our biennial FREISPIEL format, we develop musical projects beyond the traditional concert - be it festivals, silent film or music theater projects.
