A fisherman from a village in Ecuador finds a package of cocaine on the beach and tries to sell it to the highest bidder with the help of an acquaintance, first in the next town and then in Quito. Along the way, the inexperienced provincial turns into a self-confident man whose illusions are shattered. A mixture of heist and road movie that only finds a coherent rhythm in the final third. Played with convincing restraint in the title role, the film loses some of its casual charm through redundant loops and imprecise staging. (O.m.d.U.) - From 14.
