Filmvorführung von "La noire de... " (1966) von Ousmane Sembène
In the organizer's words:
*La noire de…* is the feature film debut of Senegalese director and screenwriter Ousmane Sembène (1923–2007). In it, actress M’Bissine Thérèse Diop (b. 1949) plays the role of Diouana, a young woman who leaves Senegal to pursue her dreams in France, only to gradually lose her zest for life through her work as a nanny. Sembène transforms this simple premise into a political commentary on the lingering aftermath of colonialism. The film is considered the first groundbreaking feature film by a director from sub-Saharan Africa. In French and Wolof with English subtitles.
