Finissage „She* Who Remembers - FLINTA & Krieg"

In the organizer's words:

With the group exhibition "She* Who Remembers - FLINTA &War", we are focusing on female perspectives on war, violence and memory.

From March 5 to 28, 2026, the exhibition at the Farbenladen of Feierwerk e.V. brings together artistic positions from photography, film, installation and visual arts that deal with war experiences, resistance, care and feminist culture of remembrance.

The starting point of the exhibition is the persistent invisibility of FLINTA people in war-related narratives, both in media coverage and in historical cultures of remembrance. While military conflicts are often told from male-dominated perspectives, the experiences, strategies of survival and forms of resistance of women, lesbians, inter*, non-binary, trans* and agender people often remain marginalized. She* Who Remembers - FLINTA & War sees itself as an artistic intervention against this void.

The exhibition brings together works by seven female artists and FLINTA individuals with different cultural backgrounds and biographical references to current or past regions of war and conflict, including Iran, Armenia, Palestine/Israel, Ukraine, Congo and Sudan. On display are works by artists from the respective regions as well as by people with diaspora or migration experience and artists living in Germany who critically engage with these contexts.

The works presented address the effects of patriarchal and militaristic power structures on the body, identity and community. At the same time, they make solidarity networks, care work, friendship and resistance visible - aspects that rarely find space in classic war narratives. War appears here not only as armed conflict, but also as structural, digital and ideological violence, for example in the form of online misogyny and anti-feminist radicalization.

The exhibiting artists are (in alphabetical order): Tanzil Abdallah Adam, Jasmin Breidenbach, Shaghayegh Chamani, Jana Islinger, Kokonelle, Sandra Singh & Mila Zhluktenko.
