FIRE. From the Cosmos to the Commons

In the organizer's words:

What can art tell us about the element of fire and its destructive yet creative power? For the FIRE exhibition, curated by Joanna Warsza (City Curator Hamburg), Hamburg and international artists have explored this question and have incorporated their thoughts into works of art in a variety of ways. The contemporary works deal with the political, ecological and spiritual dimensions of fire in times of multiple crises and the associated feeling of being at the mercy of approaching catastrophes. They question how the omnipresent cycle of destruction and renewal can be broken - towards a non-violent coexistence. The exhibition will be accompanied by an extensive program of guided tours, readings, concerts and other events.

The exhibition can be viewed from 21.06. to 21.09.2026 on the public grounds of the memorial and at selected locations in Hamburg.

Further information about the exhibition and the program can be found here.
