"Fische im Trüben" - Lesung mit Elli Unruh
In the organizer's words:
In her book *Fische im Trüben* (Fish in Murky Waters), nominated for the2026 Leipzig Book Fair Prize, Elli Unruh tells the story of a German-Mennonite family that lived in the Soviet Union, in southern Kazakhstan, until the late 1980s. She delves into the era of her ancestors, grandparents, and parents. In a vivid and memorable way, she depicts the lives of people who, swept along by the course of history and constantly changing circumstances and locations, find themselves at a loss, yet find stability in their traditions, religion, and their own language.
