Fischer-Z

FISCHER-Z caused a sensation at the end of the 70s with songs like "The Worker", "Room Service" and "So Long" and were often compared with the unique "The Police". The first big successes for FISCHER-Z came with the LPs "Word Salad" (1979), the great "Going Deaf For A Living" (1980) and "Red Skies Over Paradise" (1981). The 81 album even made it to No. 6 in the German Album Charts.

The long-standing band project of the creative singer, guitarist and poet John Watts has been in existence since 1976. FISCHER-Z are known for their intelligent and melodic song constructs, very lyrical lyrics with astute social and political commentary, as well as their precise musicality with sophisticated musical background structures.

Over the course of 45 years, 23 albums, a total of over 2 million album sales and over 3,000 very well-attended concerts have shown that John Watts aka FISCHER-Z, who is politically interested, creative in various artistic disciplines and young in spirit, always has something new to say and is also a pleasure to listen to.

In the course of his long career,FISCHER-Z has performed with James Brown in East Berlin, and on tour with The Police and Dire Straits. He accompanied Bob Marley on his last European festival tour. Great musicians like Peter Gabriel, Steve Cropper and Dexy's Midnight Runners' Brass Section have been feature artists on his albums.

In 2019, FISCHER-Z celebrated their "40 years of successful album history" anniversary with the release of "Swimming in Thunderstorms." The latest album "Til The Oceans Overflow" (release October 2021) follows the 40th anniversary of FISCHER-Z'siconic "Red Skies Over Paradise" album from 1981. Set again in Berlin, it contrasts the personal, political and social changes between 1980 and 2020, with characters mentioned in the 1980s songs now revisited 40 years later to illustrate some of those changes.

In the spring of 2024, Fischer-Z will once again go on tour in Germany. Fans can look forward to partying exuberantly with the band again while enjoying the music.
