French composer and musician Flavien Berger has just recently released his new album "Dans cent ans", with which he concludes a trilogy that began with "Léviathan" and "Contre-Temps". Already the first song of the record "Les yeux, le reste" shows the high art of this man: how he combines electronic influences with filigree songwriter pop, chanson borrowings and his poetic French lyrics - that has on the one hand class and is at the same time always surprising. The 15-minute title track, for example, begins as a spherical ambient number, becomes a sad ballad for one verse, suddenly brings choir vocals into play after five minutes, and then becomes not church-suitable, as one would assume, but: club-suitable. The fact that all his songs are characterized by a special atmosphere is also no coincidence: Flavien Berger regularly composes film music, which he certainly wouldn't have dared to hope for back then, when he composed his first songs in his teens with the program Music 2000 on the Playstation 2.

In his university days, Flavien Berger made the soundtracks for the performances of the art collective "Sin" before he dared to write and record his own songs. In an interview he once said: "My music can sometimes be very romantic. I think that's the French way of looking at the world."

Live, Flavien Berger always manages to captivate people. "I love playing in front of people who don't know me," Berger says - and maybe that's why his shows always turn out very passionate and special: Because he does everything he can to convince anyone and everyone in the audience of his spherical music. In Germany you have the chance to experience Flavien Berger live in November. In addition to his show at Bahnhof Pauli, he will be playing at the Pitchfork Music Festival Berlin on November 2.
