Theresienwiese flea market - Munich's biggest treasure hunt day

Once a year, the Theresienwiese is transformed into a paradise for collectors, huntersof rare items and nostalgic rummage fans. The legendary Theresienwiese flea market at the Munich Spring Festival has been a must-attend event for decades - and for good reason: more than 300 stalls and around 30,000 visitors make the market one of the largest and liveliest flea markets in Germany.

A flea market with tradition and heart

This large flea market has been organized by the Bavarian Red Cross for over 30 years. From 2 p.m. on Friday, there is already a state of emergency, as many sellers arrive early to secure the best spots. Numerous stall holders spend the night in sleeping bags and campers - usually accompanied by headlamps, thermos flasks and lots of anticipation.

The market opens punctually at 7:00 am. Even before the sun has really risen, the first treasure hunters are bustling between the stalls, rummaging through boxes and suitcases and securing coveted finds.

From rarities to curiosities - everyone will find something here

The Theresienwiese flea market is a treasure trove full of stories:
- old records and designer pieces
- Paintings, enamel signs and retro decorations
- Fashion from earlier decades
- Collector's items, knick-knacks, crockery, rare and bizarre items

True to the motto: "One man's trash is another man's treasure."
What has been sitting in the cellar for years can suddenly become a highlight for someone else.

What can and can't be sold?

The Bavarian Red Cross lists clear exceptions. The following are not allowed:

1. New goods, large pieces of furniture, motor vehicles and vehicle parts
2. Food, animals, plants
3. War toys
4. Content that glorifies violence or is pornographic
5. Goods sold on behalf of third parties or purchased specifically for resale

The following also applies:
- Driving onto the flea market site is prohibited - even for set-up purposes
- Selling from a car is not permitted
- Radios, record players and loudspeakers may not be operated
- Political and religious stalls are prohibited
- Escape routes, passageways, footpaths and green areas must remain clear

A day full of hustle and bustle and then onto the spring festival

You can buy, trade and sell on the Theresienwiese until 16:00. Afterwards, the spring festival awaits right next door - ideal for putting your feet up after a successful flea market visit or celebrating the find of the day.
