The story of the Australian rock band Floodlights reads a bit like a fairy tale: The quintet bought flights to the world's biggest showcase festival in Texas with the first money earned from their rapid popularity in the local rock scene - and from then on everything suddenly happened very quickly. The intense, captivating live show by Louis Parsons, Ashlee Kehoe, Archie Shannon, Joe Draffen and Sarah Hellyer won over fans and critics alike and quickly generated growing international interest. Just one year after their formation in 2018, Floodlights released their debut EP "Backyard", which introduced the Australians' exciting 90s garage rock-inspired sound for the first time. With a mix of post-punk, indie rock and folk, as well as a blend of relaxed, intimate passages and raw intensity, Floodlights quickly established themselves as an artist-to-watch. No wonder, then, that the debut album "From a View" (2020) followed just one year later, further cementing the band's standing. With escapist but also personal content, Floodlights' tracks are also and above all convincing in terms of songwriting. In the years that followed, the musicians went on extensive tours, including supporting Pavement and Black Midi. The second album "Painting of My Time" followed in 2023, before the band released album number three a few weeks ago with "Underneath", which was created on the extensive tours of the past few years. The album deals with all the crazy experiences and premieres that Floodlights have had since the start of their career and explores the big questions about the higher meaning of life on a meta-level. With Floodlights so deeply rooted in playing live, it's only natural that "Underneath" needs to be celebrated on a full-blown tour. This fall, the Australians will embark on a world tour for this purpose, including three stops in Germany in September.
