Today: Lecture by Katharina Hahn – "Urban Image Politics in the Photobook"
Katharina Hahn is a cultural studies scholar who conducted a comparative cultural-historical analysis of urban photobooks for her dissertation. At the Photobook Club, she will offer insights into how photobooks about Dresden were used for political purposes after 1945 and what role design techniques and image manipulation played in this context. The lecture highlights the significance of photobooks for 20th-century urban image politics and invites discussion on how this relates to our present day.

About the Photo Book Club:

We meet once a month to discover, examine, and learn to appreciate photobooks—a unique form of visual storytelling. The club takes an open and participatory approach and invites everyone to join, regardless of your background or experience. Participation is free.

The first (and only) rule of the photobook club is: no books with your own photos.

Questions about the creation of photobooks, sharing experiences, and chatting about the photobook scene are welcome—let’s have a relaxed conversation with photobook creators and enthusiasts, whether general or topic-specific. 

In addition, at each meeting we’ll show a video in which experts and photobook lovers present their three favorite photobooks.
