Photo competition: June 03 to July 07, 2024
Photo safari: June 29 and June 30, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day

The "elbsommer" in cooperation with HafenCity Hamburg GmbH is entering a new round. With the support of "Smile Eyes Augenmedizin und Augenlasern", Überseequartier Nord is offering a unique combination at the "elbsommer": in addition to a four-week photo competition, in which the winning images will be exhibited in large format for around six months at the 30th OPEN ART, an exciting weekend awaits you:

On June 29 and 30, photo workshops and walks with photographer Oliver Hadji will be offered as well as curated tours through our OPEN ART exhibition "EAST AFRICA - ATEMBERAUBEND SCHÖN" by and with Michael Poliza.

All offers are free of charge for participants.

Portrait workshop:

In this workshop you will learn how to get the perfect portrait. Vogue photographer Oliver Hadji will show you his tips and tricks on the premises of "Smile Eyes" with the support of a specially booked model. You will learn everything about optimal exposure, camera settings, the right technique etc. and can watch the photographer on a large screen. Of course, all participants can also pick up the camera themselves and put what they have learned directly into practice. It is not necessary to bring your own camera or special knowledge, but it is an advantage.

Photo walk:

We will meet at the market square on Überseeboulevard and start our photo walk from here under the guidance of Oliver Hadji. On our discovery tour through HafenCity, we will not only focus our eyes and cameras on the obvious, but rather on the hidden and capture it with our cameras and lenses. The resulting photos can also be entered into this year's "elbsommer" photo competition, which is organized by Überseequartier Nord and "Smile Eyes". Again, it is not absolutely necessary to bring your own camera, but at least a cell phone camera would be helpful.

About the course instructor Oliver Hadji:

Oliver Hadji has worked for many years as a photographer for internationally renowned magazines such as Stern, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Spiegel, Focus, and many more. He has worked as a photographer in his various home cities of Hamburg, New York and Paris. He created one of his most famous series about his own profession, portraying some of the most famous photographers. We are delighted that Oliver Hadji is supporting our format for the second time to share his knowledge and experience with you.

Artwalk:

For the 29th time, Überseequartier Nord presents the popular open-air photo exhibition "OPEN ART", this time with the theme "EAST AFRICA - ATEMBERAUBEND SCHÖN", a 300-meter-long photo series with 50 different motifs by photographer Michael Poliza. You can look forward to an exclusive guided tour with special insights and background information on the pictures.

About Michael Poliza:

From IT entrepreneur to expedition leader to award-winning photographer: the Hamburg native has reinvented himself several times, traveled to all continents and more than 180 countries. He lived in Africa for several years and developed a special relationship with the landscapes and nature there. After the photo books AFRICA and EYES OVER AFRICA, which quickly made him a world-renowned wildlife and landscape photographer, Poliza has published four more volumes about the continent over the years: SOUTH AFRICA, CLASSIC AFRICA, KENYA and NAMIBIA. Since founding the company MICHAEL POLIZA PRIVATE TRAVEL in 2011, which puts together very special adventure trips to the most beautiful untouched places on earth, Poliza no longer just brings the pictures to the people, but also the people to the pictures.

This e-mail address can be used for all three events, but we ask you to indicate which event you are registering for and how many people you would like to come with.
