The Art of Two – Between Autonomy and Collaboration
In the organizer's words:
THE ART OF TWO features 19 artist duos with more than 120 works from the past
past five decades. The exhibition features works from East and West Germany in the 1980s, from the post-reunification period, as well as works by artists currently active in Berlin
artists.
The exhibition focuses on the question of how art emerges through dialogue. The participating pairs work in very different ways. Some have developed joint series of works over the course of years; others remain connected while maintaining their own distinct artistic voices; still others deliberately present themselves as a duo or continue each other’s works. This diversity allows visitors to directly experience different forms of artistic collaboration. On display are paintings, drawings, sculptures, and installation works. When viewed side by side, the works’ individuality and dialogic connections stand out in equal measure.
The exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Kunstforum Berliner Volksbank Foundation and offers a vibrant panorama of artistic practice that spans the spectrum between autonomy and community.
