The Art of Two - Between Autonomy and Collaboration

THE ART OF TWO shows 19 pairs of artists with more than 120 works from the past five decades.

The focus is on the question of how art is created through dialog. The participating couples work in very different ways. Some develop joint groups of works over the years, others remain connected as independent positions, while still others consciously appear as a duo or continue each other's work. This diversity makes different forms of artistic collaboration directly tangible. Painting, drawing, sculpture and installation works are on display. In the juxtaposition, the works' independence and dialogical references become equally apparent.

The exhibition was created in collaboration with the Stiftung Kunstforum Berliner Volksbank and opens up a lively panorama of artistic practice between autonomy and community.
