In the organizer's words:
The Schiller House in Leipzig-Gohlis is the oldest surviving farmhouse in the region and the authentic setting for the exhibition “Friedrich Schiller in Leipzig and Gohlis 1785.” It tells the story of the young poet’s life and the social upheavals of the 18th and 19th centuries. Built in 1717 as a combined dwelling and stable, it was later remodeled. Schiller lived here in 1785, wrote the ode “Ode to Joy,” and worked on “Don Carlos.” In 1841, Robert Blum founded the Schiller Memorial. Today, the kitchen, bedrooms, and living room display exhibits related to Schiller, Blum, and the history of the house—including an original vest belonging to the poet.
