Niki White has a sensitive ear—both a curse and a blessing. Together with his mentor Harry Horowitz, he travels through New York to tune instruments that require his extraordinary gift. In the process, the otherwise rather quiet Niki must interact with people, including Ruthie, to whom he is immediately drawn. But when shady characters realize that Niki’s hearing can also be used to open safes, the story takes a dangerously surprising turn.
