Freude, Trost und Hoffnung – Motetten von Bach, Mendelssohn, Brahms und Distler

The Bachverein Düsseldorf invites you to a special choral concert that focuses on the full expressive power of the motet. At the heart of the program are two motets by Johann Sebastian Bach: the festive and radiant motet "Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden" and the profound and multi-layered work "Jesu, meine Freude". Both compositions show Bach at the height of his art - full of tonal splendor, theological depth and musical expressiveness. The concert program will be complemented by other important motets: "Richte mich, Gott" by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, "Singet dem Herrn" by Hugo Distler and "Warum ist das Licht gegeben" by Johannes Brahms.

In addition to the choral works, two thematically appropriate solo organ works will be performed. Odilo Klasen will play the organ and Alexander Niehues will be the overall musical director.
