Drag / theater performance by Jan Geiger and Vicky Voyage

In the Monacensia archive, playwright Jan Geiger and drag queen Vicky Voyage explore the legendary Munich folk artist Bally Prell (1922-1982), who defied role expectations with her disguises. Bally Prell was many things: daughter, folk singer, Munich native, dreamer and prankster. She played the same roles for decades, living with her parents and with her "best friend".

With "Die Rettung der Bally Prell", Jan Geiger and Vicky Voyage present a drag/theater performance that approaches the life of Bally Prell, who sings about the Isar and Munich life. But the research also revealed an unlived longing for a different life. The performance poses the question: Who would Bally be today, how could she have led a different life, what could be her salvation?
