Frida Kahlo - Pasion por la Vida!

In the organizer's words:

THE MAGNIFICENT WORLD OF COLOR IN MEXICO

With the piece Frida Kahlo - Pasion por la Vida! we present another production by the renowned choreographer Enrique Gasa Valga after The Great Gatsby 2024. This time he takes you into the magnificent world of color in Mexico and traces Frida's life, her passion and her exotic charisma with his dance company. A feast for all the senses!

MASTER OF SELF-DRAMATIZATION

A master of self-presentation, marked by numerous health problems since early childhood. Frida Kahlo once felt close to death and was never to leave it again. Stories and legends surround her private and artistic life. Her marriage, her bisexual affair. A committed member of the Communist Party, confined to a wheelchair after one of her legs was amputated. Her paintings - the sometimes unbearably cruel diary to her soul. One week before she died at the age of 47, Frida dipped her brush in blood-red paint and left her final greeting to life: VIVA LA VIDA.

AFTER GREAT SUCCESSES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN GERMANY

More than ten years ago, Enrique Gasa Valga and his dance company set out to track down Frida's life, her passion and her exotic charisma and make them tangible to the senses. Her laughter is said to have been deep and infectious. And the plan worked. For his dance piece, Valga was awarded the Austrian music theater prize, the Golden Schikaneder, for the best ballet production of the 2011/12 season. The photo book about the company by Günther Egger and the promotional video created with the company by Steinmayr & Co were also both awarded the Tirolissimo, the Tyrolean advertising prize. We are delighted to be able to show this wonderful production in Germany for the first time after its great success in Tyrol.
