Freundschaftslieder – Sinem und Nikos singen von beiden Ufern der Ägäis

Music has always acted as a bridge-builder between Turkey and Greece - despite political tensions and historical conflicts. For centuries, the cultural roots of both peoples have been united in music. A good example of this is Rembetiko music, which originated in the 1920s, particularly in the ports and working-class districts of Izmir and Istanbul.

Today, influences from Turkish and Greek music can still be found in modern pop music. Sinem Garnateo Weber and Nikos Hatziliadis, accompanied by bassist Nikos Konstantinidis and guitarist Enis Akmut, continue this tradition and show that cultural ties are stronger than political differences.

Sinem and Nikos' music together is a call for reconciliation and a celebration of the human experience. Their songs bring people from different backgrounds together to celebrate, mourn and celebrate harmony between cultures. As a result, the event is also taking place as part of the International Week Against Racism.
