Frizzante

are three former flatmates who formed an Italo disco band in their shared flat during the coronavirus lockdown. The band consists of Gregor Sandler-Meißner (also active as GrGr and with Zoo Escape), Cosima Weiske (Elvis de Sade) and David Appleson. The band mixes electronic percussion elements with lots of cheesy synthesizers to create a danceable but also dark sound.

Because they deliberately avoided using canned beats and samples in the studio, it is easy for the three multi-instrumentalists to stage the electronic sound live. The Munich trio take turns on each other's instruments, creating a groove that is unparalleled in live electronic music. Frontman David Appleson, who used to perform on German stages as a comedian and poetry slammer until that became too uncool for him, knows how to entertain the audience, and Gregor Sandler-Meißner, who also tours basement clubs from Vienna to Manchester as a solo punk artist under the pseudonym GrGr, brings just the right mix of professionalism and fuck-off attitude to the table. Cosima Weiske, who also plays in the goth band Elvis de Sade, gives the live sound a wonderfully dark and kitschy vibe. This sworn trio infernale takes absolutely every venue by storm and manages to get people dancing right up to the last row!
