FROM DUST

Explore the boundaries of reality and identity in the Cannes-award-winning virtual reality opera "From Dust" and become a participant in an opera tailored just for you! A unique, immersive spatial music experience awaits you.

The music brings together internationally acclaimed artists: the composition and direction are by Dutch composer Michel van der Aa. The German a cappella ensemble Sjaella was brought on board to provide the vocals. 

You enter a dark room. A cloud of tiny particles rises before you, swirling through the air like a flock of starlings. When you reach your hand into the cloud, the particles slowly transform into the figure of a woman. A second version of the woman appears and separates from the first. The eyes of the two figures meet yours, and the women begin to sing.

Are you an observer or a part of this world?

During this journey, the viewer becomes part of a personal story. Through interaction with the environment, you encounter the protagonist and her five alter egos, portrayed by the six members of the vocal group Sjaella. You create new worlds yourself as you walk through the installation and bring the various alter egos to life.

Booking

The VR experience is accessible only with a time slot booked in advance and subject to a binding reservation. 
From June 26 through July 11, individual hourly time slots are available between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Further details on booking will follow shortly. Each booking will be confirmed; the booking process is complete upon receipt of the confirmation email.
Please arrive on time for your booked appointment. Access cannot be guaranteed if you arrive late. The experience begins with a brief orientation session that introduces you to the use of VR technology.
This event is specifically designed for visitors with no prior experience with virtual reality.

Important Notes

This multisensory experience is tailored to each visitor using generative AI, making it a personalized and unique experience for everyone. As a co-creator, the audience member serves as the counterpart to the main character. They are not merely a passive observer but actively shape their own story. All personal data and images used for this purpose will be deleted after the performance ends.

Some people may find virtual reality and the ability to move freely in a VR environment frightening. “From Dust” is not recommended for people with an extreme fear of heights, claustrophobia, heart problems, back problems, a history of seizures, epilepsy, or sensitivity to light. This experience is not recommended for people under the age of 12.
