Tobias Schlegl, born in 1977, was a longtime host on the music channel Viva, and later hosted the satire show Extra 3 and the cultural magazine aspekte. He gave up most of his television work in 2016 and completed training to become a paramedic. He wrote about this profession in his novel “Schockraum” (2020), which immediately became a Spiegel bestseller. His non-fiction books “See. Not. Rettung.” (2022) and “Leichtes Herz und schwere Beine” (2025) also became bestsellers.
