"Funken" negotiates questions of identity and friendship, resistance and solidarity, daring to imagine a different world in which young people dare to dream and realize their ideas.

13-year-old Malte says goodbye to his mother when she drops him off at the gate of a mysterious vacation camp. He soon discovers that there are no adults at this unusual camp; the youngsters must take care of themselves. Malte, who thinks of himself as completely average, quickly befriends the group of exceptionally gifted youngsters. Only the voice of the Arthur McPush Cooperation, urging the young people to make the most of themselves, threatens to break the seemingly utopian behavior at the camp. Till Wiebel's play "Funken" was awarded the 2021 Retzhof Drama Prize for Young Audiences. The prize is one of the most prestigious awards for young scenic writing in the German-speaking world. In 2021, it was announced for the first time in the category "Theater for Young Audiences". In cooperation with the Retzhofer Dramapreis, the Theater an der Parkaue will present the world premiere of "Funken". The director is Mina Salehpour.
