Gaetano Donizetti's opera "La favorite" (1840) tells the tragic story of Léonor, torn between her role as mistress of the Spanish king and her love for the young Fernand. The grand opéra, which premiered in Paris, combines Italian drama with French elegance and opulent orchestration.
With passionate arias, powerful ensembles and dramatic choruses, "La favorite" transports us into a world full of emotional depth and musical beauty. Under the direction of Maestro Antonino Fogliani and with mezzo-soprano Varduhi Abrahamyan and tenor Kang Wang, an outstanding cast can be experienced.
