Colombian rhythms fused with electronic beats
On 16.05.2026 there will be an interactive introduction to traditional Colombian music, with a focus on percussion and maracas (e.g. cumbia, bullerengue, currulao). As special guests we welcome renowned artists with great experience in the folklore scene: Edwin Hoyos and Leang Manjarrés.
Through a practice-oriented and collective approach, participants will learn the rhythmic basics and cultural contexts of these musical forms. This will be followed by an introduction to working with the loop station and the creative combination of traditional sounds with modern electronic music.
Participation is open to all.
The event will be followed by a concert by the two musicians.
The evening will end with a DJ set full of tropical sounds, cumbia and tech house for the dancefloor
Los Ambrosios (Cumbia / Tropical Bass)
Fafa (Tech House)

Workshop: 19:00-21:00 (Free admission, donation welcome)
Party: from 21:00 (8 € entrance fee)
Edwin Hoyos @edwingaita and Leang Manjarres @gaitaloopmusic are two musicians with a lot of experience in Colombian folk music. They are coming to Bremen as part of a project with @lostemperamentos in which they combine traditional rhythms with sounds and elements of baroque music.
We are delighted to invite you to an interactive workshop with the two of them on Saturday, May 16, at @flux.bremen. There they will share their knowledge of rhythms from traditional Colombian music, with a focus on drums, maracas and the sounds of gaita (e.g. cumbia, bullerengue).
