Driving beats, pulsating synthesizers, clever lyrics on topics like mental health and politics, and unbridled post-punk energy have definedGANS’smusic from the very beginning of their career. The fact that this sound led the band—following a DIY EP—to sign with Pete Doherty’s label Strap Originals speaks for itself. Two years later,GANShave also long since proven that they can hold their own alongside the biggest names in the British post-punk scene. Following international tours as the opening act for The Libertines and The Vaccines, and with the release of their debut album, the Birmingham-based band has long since made a name for itself beyond the UK. This ledGANSto serve as a special guest opening act for the 40th-anniversary tour of alternative/indie rock legends the Pixies in 2026, following a performance at the Eurosonic Festival in May. In September,GANSwill finally come to Germany for their first headlining shows and will present their high-energy sound in an intimate club setting: at Munich’s Kranhalle, Berlin’s Maschinenhaus, and Cologne’s Blue Shell. After spending some time in various bands in Birmingham, Euan Woodman (vocals & drums) and Thomas Rhodes (vocals & bass) felt the urge to throw all the rules out the window and devote themselves to a new project. Out of this desire,GANSwas born and officially launched in December 2023 with the release of their first single,“WHAT YOU MEAN.”On the track, the duo presented a mix of synthesizers, noise rock, and danceable indie, which quickly drew attention on their first DIY EP and led to the band signing with Strap Originals. In 2024, they released additional standalone singles such as“HARRY’S TUNE,” “TALK TOO MUCH,“BUSINESS,” and“DIRTY COWBOY, through whichGANSshowcased the many facets of their musical vision. With the song“IN TIME,” a driving post-punk anthem,GANS finallykicked off the album cycle for their debut album“GOOD FOR THE SOUL.” The album was released in September 2025 following four additional singles and was produced by Ross Orton (Arctic Monkeys, M.I.A.). Drawing on influences from indie, alternative, and post-punk,GANSexperiment with both brass sections (“NIGHTWALKING”) as well as playful noise rock and dance-punk vibes (“I THINK I LIKE YOU”), showcasing their versatile sound with one defining characteristic above all else: pure energy.
