Ganz schön Jazz mit Vroni Frisch & Strings

There’s room for everything here: from smooth and delicate to rough and wild. The pieces by Mainz-based bassist and composer Vroni Frisch invite listeners on a journey where the songs always take center stage, yet are free to evolve in any direction. They sometimes venture into classical and cinematic-sounding realms and are an essence of diverse influences and styles with a penchant for grand gestures, where the tension between composed and improvised elements sparks excitement both on and off stage —because playing live is the lifeblood of the VRONI FRISCH BAND. For this special concert, Vroni has gathered her band plus a string quartet around her and her 6-string electric bass, and together they give free rein to the flow, the joy of playing, and the magic moments. Among other things, the concert will feature brand-new tracks from the debut album *EPHEMER*, which will be released this fall on Double Moon Records as part of the *Jazz thing – Next Generation* series. The title *EPHEMER* (Greek for “lasting one day”—existing only for a short time, fleeting, without lasting significance, short-lived, quickly passing, transient) symbolizes the music: A concert may have ended, but the music remains.
