“A method for organizing a community that is as ingenious as it is practical”—that’s how legal scholar Christine Desan describes money. Yet this method seems to be applied in a terribly misguided way. Although money is available in abundance, it is, unfortunately, in short supply wherever it is needed.

Who is allowed to create money? For what purposes, and who receives it first? And why is this accepted?

In an interactive theater performance, VOLL:MILCH examines the infrastructure of modern money. In the process, the monetary system is brought to the stage, its historically evolved sociopolitical dimensions are illuminated, and it is critically scrutinized. Against the backdrop of alleged budgetary constraints, austerity policies, and false assumptions, images, and notions of money, the production focuses on the seemingly endless potential of modern money.
