AWAKENING III – (not) all men

AWAKENING III – (not) all men marks the provisional conclusion of several years of artistic research and builds upon the solo piece Cherubino/A.

In his performance, Lorenzo Pignataro combines dance, language, and performative elements into a powerful exploration of queer (post-)migrant realities. The focus is on questions of identity, masculinity, migration, and queerness, as well as how bodies are interpreted even before they can speak.

Moving between autobiographical experiences and societal attributions, the piece explores anger, intergenerational trauma, classism, and the feeling of never quite belonging. It invites the audience to question their own perceptions and expectations.

The approximately 50-minute solo performance begins as soon as the audience arrives. Everyday life and the performance blend seamlessly, creating a shared space of experience.

The work is created in collaboration with Unreal Productions. Following stints at the Hanover State Opera and at tanzRAUM at the Kunsthalle Faust, Lorenzo Pignataro’s multi-year artistic research continues with *AWAKENING III – (not) all men* at the EISFABRIK.
