The art of Gert & Uwe Tobias transports viewers into a colorful fantasy world full of enigmatic figures. The diverse artistic techniques used by the two brothers are fascinating. They combine elements from various image reproductions with their own drawings and paintings to create collages, type images on an old typewriter, and mold clay objects with grotesque faces. Their signature works are, in particular, large-scale color woodcuts: using carved wooden blocks, they print onto large canvases by assembling the motifs like a puzzle. The two artists have decorated the museum’s foyer with murals and pops of color to complement their exhibition.
