80 years since the end of the war
80 years, or three generations, have passed since the end of the Second World War. There are fewer and fewer contemporary witnesses. How can we preserve the memory of the crimes of the Nazi era and their victims? And how can we break the silence that has accompanied many families since the post-war period?
In this panel on the occasion of the performative event Wiederumaufabbau, Master's students of dramaturgy will discuss intra-family silence, individual responsibility and the potential of artistic-activist initiatives for the preservation of a collective culture of remembrance. The panel will include theater author and translator Matthias Naumann, Joëlle Lewitan, speaker on memories of the Shoah, and Janne and Klaus Weinzierl, participants in the SCHICKSALE project at the Münchner Kammerspiele.
The event is part of the VIELEN talks. Their network unites over 4,500 institutions and actors from the arts and culture. DIE VIELEN advocate an open, diverse and democratic society and take a stand against racism, violence and discrimination.
