Giacomo Turra is an Italian musician who was born in Milan in 1997.
After moving to Trento in 2005, Giacomo started playing the guitar at the age of 13 as a self-taught guitarist, fascinated by his father's records by Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock and Weather Report, and in the following years he participated in several original music projects that move between R&B, funk and jazz.
In March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, when he was unable to play concerts, Giacomo decided to open an Instagram account. It doesn't take long for the first videos to go viral and reach millions of views, allowing Giacomo to become an artist for D'Angelico Guitars in New York and gain a following of hundreds of thousands of followers from all over the world.
In July 2021, Giacomo released "The Groove Sessions", a compilation of soul and funk tracks that he rearranged and recorded with renowned musicians and singers from around the world such as Brandon "TAZ" Niederauer, Jessica Burdeaux, Phoebe Katis, Carson Elliott, George Collins and Augie Bello.
On November 12, 2021, Giacomo performed abroad for the first time, in Amsterdam's famous Paradiso at the Soul Live Festival in front of 3000 people. This was followed by numerous appearances in Europe, Canada and the USA, in clubs and at renowned festivals such as Java Jazz in Jakarta, the Kura Kura Bali Jazz Festival and the Jazz By The Cove Festival in Singapore.
Giacomo Turra performs live with the Funky Minutes. The Funky Minutes consist of Matteo Dallape (drums), Francesco Dallago (bass), Anna Polinari (keys) and Alessandro Russo (saxophone + percussion).
