Gladiator II

After the death of his idol Maximus (Russell Crowe), Lucius (Paul Mescal), the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), was brought to safety outside the Roman Empire. Escaping the influence of Roman corruption, intrigue and power struggles, Lucius grows into a young man in peace on the North African coast - until one day his past catches up with him. His new Numidian homeland is invaded by Roman legions led by General Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal). Traumatized by tragic losses, Lucius is taken to Rome and sold to the gladiator stable owner Macrinus (Denzel Washington). He is to fight for his life in the arena for the entertainment of the people and his co-emperors Geta (Joseph Quinn) and Caracalla (Fred Hechinger). Driven by unbridled rage, Lucius wants to deal a blow to the Empire and, above all, take revenge on the man he sees as his worst enemy: General Acacius, who is, however, married to Lucius' mother Lucilla.
