Gondwana Records Presents | Jazz
In the organizer's words:
"Gondwana Records Presents " has become our most time-honored concert series, which we curate every year together with our friends at Gondwana Records —and for which they invite three of their most captivating artists each time.
We can look forward to another diverse and groundbreaking lineup next year as well.
The first artist we’re pleased to announce is Jack Wyllie. Known as a member of the Portiquo Quartet, he has long been part of the Gondwana family. On September 11, he will release the album *Eternal Spring* under his own name.
Gondwana Records is an independent record label founded in Manchester in 2008 by trumpeter, composer, and producer Matthew Halsall and his brother, graphic designer and artist Daniel Halsall.
Inspired by their love of deep spiritual jazz and British club culture, Gondwana initially focused on releases by Matthew Halsall and saxophonist Nat Birchall, featuring the crème de la crème of Manchester’s jazz scene. In 2012, Gondwana released the debut albums by the acoustic-electronic trio GoGo Penguin and the folk-jazz minimalists Mammal Hands. In 2018, they heralded the Portico Quartet’s return to the studio, thereby helping to define a movement of progressive electronic and jazz-influenced new music that, alongside jazz, post-classical, and ambient music, constitutes one of the label’s signature sounds. As a result, Gondwana became a home for pioneering and progressive new artists such as Hania Rani, Svaneborg Kardyb, Vega Trails, and Jasmine Myra.
The Gondwana Records Presents concerts are produced in collaboration with some of Europe’s most renowned venues, from the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg to the Roundhouse and the Union Chapel in London and beyond.
We are thrilled to present Gondwana Records Presents for the sixth time on Easter Saturday, March 27, 2027, in the Grand Hall of the Elbphilharmonie.
