GRENZGANG Benefiz-Vortrag: Karawane der Menschlichkeit

Travel photographer Pascal Violo plans to photograph polar bears in Canada - until he is shaken by the images of a burning refugee camp on the island of Lesbos in the fall of 2020. Without further ado, he plunders his travel funds, fills the car with donations in kind and sets out to help. His infectious moral courage gives rise to the Caravan of Humanity, a non-profit organization that quickly collects tons of material goods and a quarter of a million euros in donations. With many volunteers and aid initiatives in the hot spots, it succeeds in alleviating the plight of desperate people, whether in Greece, Italy, France, Bosnia, Turkey, Ukraine, Syria or Lebanon. Freezing people receive clothing and hope, orphans a roof over their heads. And in southern Italy, migrants who are exploited by the mafia under slave-like conditions are helped to get their rights. A shocking testimony to Europe's refugee policy - and a moving story of humanity!
