After four wild years through the crisis, the call for the legendary festival shows became so loud that we could no longer ignore it. We would like to thank our loyal festival fans for sticking with us over the last few years and persuading us to take the step back to the old sauce cult.
For those of you who are just joining us... what is the Green Sauce Festival?
A total of 49 restaurateurs demonstrate their skills in preparing green sauce. Each evening, 650 guests taste the 7 green sauce variations prepared by the respective restaurateurs. In keeping with Hessian tradition, potatoes and eggs are served with the dish, and a free choice of drinks is also available. At the end of each evening, the voting cards are drawn and the audience votes for the best green sauce. The 7 evening winners will then compete against each other in the grand final on day 8 and the guests will vote for the overall winner of the festival.
The culinary competition is embedded in a changing cultural evening program with guest artists from comedy, cabaret and music. Over 5,000 guests, 49 restaurateurs, countless artists from the region and beyond - they all celebrate the cult dish in 8 evening shows during the festival week.
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the day, there is a festival market with culinary highlights all about Grie Soß - naturally also inspired by international market stalls, as befits Frankfurt. Different music bands from the region perform on the market stage every day.
What started out 15 years ago as a crazy idea by the two creative artists Maja Wolff and Torsten Müller has now become a firmly established cultural event for Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region. Then came Corona and with it probably the biggest challenge for culture and gastronomy since the festival was founded.
The entire team can now look back on three highly creative years, during which the Green Sauce Festival was created.
