Gypsy Jazz Days Munich

Since 2015, the Gypsy Jazz Days have been an annual highlight for fans of music in the tradition of Django Reinhardt. Inviting renowned artists and ensembles from all over Europe is a central part of this citywide festival. On the first evening, the Amati Schmitt Quartet will be performing at our venue with special guest Dorado Schmitt.

The Amati Schmitt Quartet, one of the most original ensembles in Gypsy jazz, will be gracing us with their presence. They have already made a name for themselves with performances on major festival stages across Europe. Amati Schmitt can rightly be called a virtuoso when it comes to technical sophistication and ingenuity. But it is above all his inimitable tone and his compositions that make him an exceptional artist. The quartet presents jazz standards from the early Hot Club era as well as distinctive original compositions in the style of Swing Manouche.

Special Guest: Dorado Schmitt

The evening’s special guest is none other than Dorado Schmitt. The violinist and guitarist is a stylistic icon of the genre. As the composer of “Bossa Dorado,” he has created one of the quintessential Gypsy jazz anthems.
