Half an Hour with... is a new transatlantic discussion format of the Association of German-American Centers, of which the Carl Schurz House is a member. Once a month, we invite you to a half-hour discussion with experts who talk about the USA and German-American relations in a well-founded and concise manner. Whether current political developments, social trends, economic perspectives or cultural insights: Half an Hour with... brings transatlantic topics directly to your home or office. In May, we look forward to David Frum. He is an author at "The Atlantic" magazine and the author of two books on Trump's presidency: the 2018 New York Times bestseller "Trumpocracy - The Corruption of the American Republic" and the 2020 book "Trumpocalypse - Restoring American Democracy". From 2001 to 2002, he was a special advisor and speechwriter for President George W. Bush during and after the September 11 attacks on the United States.
He is considered a recognized thought leader of the American conservative movement and was one of the first and leading conservative Republicans to warn of the challenges of the Trump presidency. His prophetic 2017 cover story in "The Atlantic" magazine, "How to Build an Autocracy", is one of the most quoted works of the Trump years. In his popular new podcast "The David Frum Show", he gets to the bottom of the big questions of US society and politics.
