When the East German photographer Gundula Schulze Eldowy and the Swiss-American photographer Robert Frank (1924-2019) met in East Berlin in 1985, it was the beginning of an intense artistic friendship. They continued to exchange letters through the Iron Curtain. After the fall of the Wall, the young photographer accepted the invitation of the world-famous photographer and filmmaker to New York in 1990. There, Schulze Eldowy's visual aesthetic shifted from straight photography to the experimental and poetic. This exhibition allows us to follow this unique dialog through numerous photographs, films and documents.
