Halyna Kruk – Ukrainische Poesie im und gegen den Krieg

PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

Ukrainian poets experience the current war in their country as a radical turning point, as a life-threatening confrontation from which there is no escape - yet they do not fall silent in horror, but find their voice to describe the unspeakable. The Ukrainian poet Halyna Kruk writes poetry in and against war. At the DAI, she provides deep insights into her work.

Halyna Kruk, born in 1974, is a writer, literary critic and translator. She is the author of five volumes of poetry, including Journeys in Search of Home (1997), Co/Existence (2013) and Adults (2017). Her oeuvre also includes audio books, short story collections and children's books. Halyna Kruk has received numerous literary awards in Ukraine and abroad, including the Women in Art Award (2023) and the Best Book Award of the Ukrainian Publishers Forum (2021). She holds a doctorate in literature and is also a member of PEN Ukraine. She lives in Lviv - like Heidelberg a UNESCO City of Literature - and teaches European and Ukrainian Baroque literature at the Ivan Franko National University there.
